When Lea Met Adedotun…
Every love story begins somewhere. For Lea Parker and Adedotun Ojelabim, it was gospel choir. Their romance sparked after speaking in rehearsal together at their church in Seattle. Here they are today, falling deeper and deeper in love. I had the honor to be their Philadelphia engagement photographer and witness their immense love for each other. As nature lovers, we decided to choose Hunting Hill Mansion at Ridley Creek State Park as the location. The fairytale-feel of this place made it the perfect spot for their engagement session.
I asked Lea and Dotun what they love most about one another. The similarities between them are pretty amazing.
Lea – “I love how playful he is. I can tend to be pretty serious, but he always finds a way to make me laugh or lighten the conversation!”
Dotun – “She makes me laugh. She is so weird and serious, and isn’t trying to be funny… but it makes me laugh so hard!”
Having a best friend along with a soulmate is one of the best things ever, handsdown. To spend your days with someone who constantly lifts you up and makes everything in life enjoyable is the real deal. I’m so happy that these two share a life that’s full of laughter and happiness.
She Said Yes!
A little backstory on the proposal, Dotun set up a photoshoot. He fed her the story of it being for his mother. This just-so-happened to take place on the beach where Lea and Dotun began dating. Lo and behold – he knelt down on one knee and proposed to her. His friend photographed the entire thing secretly in some nearby bushes. With the world being in the middle of a pandemic, Lea and Dotun are still pulling the strings together with wedding planning.
A Psalm Of David
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Psalm 23 has been an important and memorable verse for Lea. On her left forearm, she has part of the verse tattooed there – “He leads me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul.” Even in times of despair and life’s greatest blows, she knows God will rescue her and lift her to higher grounds. She believes the Lord is always with her, no matter where life takes her, and she finds peace and comfort in that. Lea has been blessed and is on her way to a big victory – accomplishing grad school with a PhD in Clinical Psychology.
For Dotun, being in front of the camera is a little bit different for him. Why? He’s usually the man behind the camera himself. He is a budding photographer and owner of Moving Lenses. During the day, he is busy dealing with all-things computer science related.
All The Best
J&J Studios was happy to help ease the nerves for their engagement session and really break the ice. Their outgoing personalities from there took over and shined through their images. A person like Lea, who loves to trash talk when playing board games, and Dotun, someone who constantly sings made up songs, make for a fun time.
