We had the honor of photographing Elton at J&J Studios for his Gloucester City headshot photography session. He was looking for a photographer who could do both a corporate headshot as well as a more personal portrait for his social network pages. We’re always happy to work with such amazing people and look forward to seeing what the future holds for Elton. We’re happy to do our part in getting Elton some recognition and work—but it’s also exciting to think that we might have played a part in getting him one step closer to his dreams.

When we worked together with Elton on his headshot photography session, he knew exactly what he wanted. He asked us to bring out our cameras, and we started with some in-studio shots. After that, we went into the studio to try some different lighting setups. As you can see in the photos we took, Elton is a natural in front of the camera. His smile comes across well in every shot, and he knows how to look professional and fun at the same time. We think what made this photoshoot so successful is how comfortable Elton was posing for pictures, his ability to work with our photographer’s suggestions, and how great he looks every single time.

HOW TO DRESS FOR HEADSHOTS FOR MEN

Headshot photography is almost a necessary evil for many men. Whether you’re looking to create an online profile for dating, applying for jobs, or just want to look more professional in your business dealings, a good headshot can make you look sharp and keep you from appearing sloppy or unprofessional.

The problem is that many men don’t know how to dress for a headshot session. They show up in anything from a suit to jeans and a t-shirt, all of which will send the wrong message about who they are and what they’re looking to accomplish.

There’s no one way to dress for a headshot.

A lot depends on your style and on the type of business you’re in. However, there are some general guidelines you can follow if you want to look your best in front of a camera.

Here are some examples that would be great for a headshot session:

• First, you should wear something that fits. Even if it’s a suit, if it doesn’t fit correctly, its appearance will be less than flattering. The goal is to look your best and give off a professional image. If you’re uncomfortable or unable to move comfortably in your clothing, that will show in the photo.
• A plain button-down shirt would work great for a headshot. In addition, avoid wearing something with writing on it or a very busy pattern as this can make it hard for people looking at the photo to focus on what you look like rather than what you’re wearing.
• Blues, greys, and blacks tend to be good colors because they tend not to distract from your face. Darker colors will make it easier for the photographer to adjust colors later if they aren’t perfect when the photo is taken.
