Bellevue State Park Graduation Photoshoot

Graduations can be bittersweet, or they can be all sweet. Paul’s graduation from his doctorate program was a true celebration! His Bellevue State Park graduation photoshoot with J & J Studios included his family in the celebration of his grand achievement.

Doctoral Graduation Tams
Completing a doctorate program when you have a family adds an extra challenge to an already challenging achievement. Family duties are incredibly important, and finishing a challenging program while fulfilling family duties is amazing.

You can tell that Paul graduated with a doctorate degree based on the robe and cap he’s wearing. Doctoral graduates wear a graduation gown that can feature velvet chevrons on the sleeves, linings, and piping. The cap worn by doctoral graduates differs from the traditional mortarboard worn by other graduates. Instead of a square, the doctoral cap is shaped like an octagon. So, it has eight sides – double the number of sides found on a mortarboard graduation cap. Together, the cap and gown are called doctoral tams.

You can also figure out what kind of doctoral program Paul has finished based on the color of the velvet trim on his graduation gown. Paul’s velvet trim is a kelly green, which typically means that the graduate has completed an M.D., or a medical doctorate degree. So, he’s not just Paul now – he’s Dr. Paul!
About Bellevue State Park
Bellevue State Park sits in the suburbs of Wilmington, Delaware. The land where the State Park now sits was once a Dupont estate. William Dupont, Jr. was the estate’s last owner and a passionate equestrian. He had horse stables, indoor horse training facilities, and a one and one-eighth mile long horse track built and installed on the land.

The Bellevue Hall Mansion still stands on the land that makes up the Bellevue State Park. It’s a beautiful yellow building with a rounded, columned portico. The land of the State Park also looks over the beautiful Delaware River. There is space and facilities for doing activities such as cycling, walking, running, hiking, and fishing.

Here’s a few fun facts – William Dupont, Jr. was born in a sixteenth-century manor in England, but he was raised at the Montpelier estate in Virginia. James Madison, the Founding Father and fourth U.S. President, had made his home at Montpelier.

Additionally, Dupont’s older sister, Marion, was also incredibly interested in horse breeding and horseracing. She, like her brother, is known for her contributions to both fields.

Congratulations, Paul (and Family)!
J & J Studios would like to wish Paul – and his family – congratulations on his doctoral graduation! It’s an immense achievement, and we hope you enjoyed your graduation photoshoot and celebrated. Congratulations, Dr. Paul, M.D.!
