Weddings inspire some rather poetic musings. Marriage ceremonies in particular have become the stuff of legend; it’s said that the entire history of love, is assembled into a single day altogether. And legend it is, with its beautiful rituals and sentiments; heartfelt prayers and rites of passage; unique traditions and declarations of love.

Weddings are a sacred celebration, with joy, excitement, and gratitude permeating every moment. They can be bittersweet, especially for those who are single. But the highlight is an opportunity to gather the family and loved ones- the dancing, eating, and profound splendor of the celebrations have something to say about us.

CESCAPHE BALLROOM WEDDING: SHARYN & KYLE

It was a beautiful day at the Cescaphe Ballroom, and J&J Studios had the pleasure of being there to capture Sharyn and Kyle’s wedding. We had plenty of creative freedom. The wedding of Sharyn & Kyle was one for the books. From the moment we walked into Cescaphe, we knew this would be a wedding to remember. The ceremony was held in the ballroom. The weather could not have been more perfect.

In fact, if it had been any better, we would have all been swimming in blue sky and sunshine. We were given full access to the venue by Sharyn & Kyle, so even though they spent their special day having fun with each other and their friends and family, J&J Studios had just as much fun capturing these intimate moments. It was an honor to be a part of such a special occasion!

CESCAPHE BALLROOM WEDDING VENUE

Imagine walking arm-in-arm down the grand staircase of a beautiful palace, surrounded by your family and friends as you begin your lives together. Picture yourself in a space that is elegant, charming, and timeless—a place where you will be the center of attention. Imagine all eyes on you as you celebrate the biggest day of your life in one of the most impressive places around. This is what it feels like to have a wedding at Cescaphe Ballroom.

In fact, Cescaphe Ballroom is situated on Washington Avenue in Philadelphia’s Old City neighborhood, within the iconic and historic Boyd Theater Building.

This stunning, recently renovated space was once a movie palace from the golden age of cinema. Its soaring ceilings are embellished with chandeliers dripping with pearls and striking brass details, while its sleek bar runs the length of the wall. The elegant setting transports you back to an era when Hollywood glamour was all the rage. Its unique blend of elegance and modernity will make your special day particularly memorable—from the moment you walk in, to the final dance by candlelight.

MEET THE BRIDE AND GROOM: SHARYN & KYLE

Sharyn & Kyle’s wedding was a beautiful day at the Cescaphe Ballroom. They were both fun-loving people, and they fit together like two peas in a pod. Not to mention they had an immeasurable amount of love just radiating off of them throughout the entire wedding. Sharyn looked heavenly in her gown, while Kyle was dapper in his suit. It was a fun-filled day with family and friends that made everyone feel like one big happy family!

GETTING THE PARTY STARTED

The day was here! Our photography team arrived at Cescaphe Ballroom, where everyone was getting ready.
We started with detailed shots of all the stuff that makes weddings so fun: the dress, the shoes, the rings, the bouquet. Then we went around and got photos of all the bridesmaids and maid of honor getting their hair done.

After that, we shot some candid photos from across the room of Sharyn getting her hair done. She looked so beautiful! We took shots of the groom and his guys who were getting ready—it was quite a photo op.

We only had a short time in town before the wedding so, we ensured to spend as little time with the bridal party as possible. Afterward, we proceeded to the streets, where we did some fun shots of the bridal party before heading to the ceremony.

CESCAPHE BALLROOM WEDDING CEREMONY

The ceremony was performed in the main room of the Cescaphe Ballroom, and it was markedly beautiful, just as one would expect from this venue. Decorated with candles, beautiful plants, and a string quartet, Kyle looked at Sharyn and said “I do.” With his solemn promise, we realized that the couple’s life was about to change completely. This atmosphere spoke of the fact that there is no wedding without willing hearts. Sharyn & Kyle’s family and friends filled the pews to witness this explicitly enchanting wedding ceremony.

Sharyn and Kyle’s wedding ceremony was a fantastic day, with the bride looking absolutely beautiful and stunning. The bridesmaids wore beautiful blue dresses which matched the flowers perfectly, and their matching shoes were beautiful as well! There were tears of joy, laughter, and hearts beyond words, and it was a great day to be at the fabulous Sharyn and Kyle’s wedding ceremony.

COCKTAIL; HOUR AT CESCAPHE BALLROOM WEDDING

Sharyn and Kyle’s wedding ceremony was preceded by a cocktail hour. Guests could relax and mingle with each other before going over to the reception hall. As they enjoyed some light refreshments, Sharyn and Kyle greeted their guests and mingled with them directly before the party officially got underway.

We like to call this one “the pre-party.” It’s a chance for you to mingle with your guests before the reception gets started—and it’s also a great way of setting the tone for your party. For example, if your wedding will be a formal affair, you can use this time to help your guests get into that fancy frame of mind. Or, if it will be a casual outdoor event, you can start getting everyone in the mood for some fun in the sun.

You could also spend this time getting your pictures taken with family members and your wedding party. Or, if you want to take advantage of the nice weather on an outdoor wedding day, you might want to utilize this time for that as well. However you choose to spend it, we think it’s a great idea!

CESCAPHE BALLROOM WEDDING RECEPTION

The wedding at Cescaphe Ballroom was significantly an intimate affair. As the wedding reception began, the newlyweds entered with a warm welcome. The couple was ushered into the ballroom of Cescaphe Ballroom, where their guests were waiting to greet them. Sharyn and Kyle’s first dance was to a song that was special for them. It was beautiful and romantic, with lots of smiles from the newlyweds.

The reception hall was filled with tables and chairs for dining, along with a stage for dancing and a bar offering drinks. By all means, the venue itself was the perfect backdrop for the couple’s nuptials; with its warm colors and welcoming atmosphere, it felt like a home away from home for everyone there. From the moment you entered the reception room, you were greeted by friendly faces from family members and close friends. They all created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed—which was exactly what Sharyn had hoped for when she picked this venue!

The dancefloor filled up quickly as the DJ played everyone’s favorite songs. The newlyweds started the night off right with their first dance as husband and wife. Then the bridal party joined them for a group dance before sitting down for dessert. The rest of the night was spent enjoying fresh beverages and dancing with old friends and new acquaintances alike. Altogether, we could see how happy Sharyn and Kyle were amongst those they love most in life!

WINDING UP AT CESCAPHE BALLROOM WEDDING

By the end of the evening, there were notably a few guests left. The band had transitioned from upbeat dancing to something softer and more instrumental. The couple weaved under the canopy of shimmering shapes that had formed around them with their eyes fixed on each other. Sharyn’s dress glided along as she moved closer to her new husband. The couple moved to a lit pathway that led outside to make their first steps together as husband and wife.

After all, was said and done, the day was a great success. The fact that it brought together so many different individuals to celebrate with Sharyn and Kyle is perhaps the greatest testament to its success. It wouldn’t have been half as impressive had it been just another wedding. It really was indeed a magical wedding and reception that will be remembered by all.

Sharyn and Kyle were direct, clear, and intentional with every detail. Above all, they took the extra time to consider what each vendor could offer and found a way to make it work out without a hitch. With each vendor being on the same page, along with all of their close family and friends involved hence, it was an easy process for them.

Furthermore, they included all of the small details that made the ceremony special; things that are often overlooked in today’s weddings. From organized vendors who worked together, having items custom made and including little extras that don’t cost much money, all in all, they did a wonderful job!
