There is much to be said about the setting that a couple chooses when they have reached the part of their relationship journey and plan to solidify their union through marriage.  Such is the case for a lovely couple, Becca & Mike, who took great pains in the planning and execution of their nuptials recently. One such decision was to host their grand affair at an impressive setting indeed which result in the choice to have a Fairmount Park Horticulture Center wedding. The sumptuous surroundings of this venue, coupled with the gathering of friends and family to share the festivities provided the ideal setting for these two lovely people to express their love and commitment to each other. There are so many options available to a young couple such as Becca and Michael as they go through the process of planning their special day. It requires time, review, elimination, final choices – the list goes on. But as we progress through the many photographs that are captured here, I think you’ll agree that Becca and Michael chose wisely as they created what proved to be a most impressive celebration!

The Horticulture Center, located in picturesque Fairmount Park, is one of Philadelphia’s most well-loved cultural destinations.

Built in 1979 on the site of the former Horticultural Hall, an 1876 Centennial Exposition building, the Horticulture Center has curated a variety of awe-inspiring spaces that serve as the ideal setting for remarkable private celebrations, exceptional weddings, and one-of-a-kind corporate events. Stunning event and entertainment spaces include a historic arboretum, an expansive open greenhouse, a modern exhibition hall, intimate indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, display gardens, a reflecting pool, and more. An event of this magnitude has many moving parts as you can imagine. The Bride, the Groom, the invited friends and family along with all the components leading up to the final “I do’s” need to be well-planned and orchestrated in order for things to flow and move in a timely and orderly fashion. That includes having the support and guidance of many professionals that are engaged in creating and preparing these many components tied to the event. This includes ensembles, accoutrements, the food, flowers, music, as well as the overall ambiance of day. With the latter, an important partner in capturing these special moments and memorializing them is the photographer. And Becca and Mike were very wise in the choice of selecting award-winning photographer, John Ryan of J&J Studios of Philadelphia. John is one of the leading wedding photographers in the Philadelphia area and is known for his phenomenal work, as is represented in the following pictures. But more about John a bit later. Now let’s take a look into the special day of Becca and Mike and their Fairmount Park Horticulture Center Wedding.

The Bride –

A wedding is a special day for a number of the participants that are involved, but for none other than the Bride herself. The eventful day is the culmination of her relationship journey with her soon-to-be husband and on the chosen day for their wedding, it all starts with the Bride getting ready for the events of the day. It’s an occasion that a woman at any age may have dreamed of happening long before the actual event and involves a great deal of consideration as to what selections for herself as well as her Bridesmaids are needed to be made as they ready for the big event. Below are some examples of Becca as she readies herself for the wonderful day ahead.

As you can see, Becca has made some exquisite choices for her jewelry, her gown, and of course her attendants servicing as her Bridesmaids. But while the Bride is one of the main focuses of any wedding, there is one more participant for who this special day involves – the Groom! He too has preparation details to follow in order to be ready, along with his bride, for the events of the day! He too wants to make the best presentation of himself as he prepares for stepping forward with his lovely Bride in front of invited friend and family on a day that will long be remembered by all those attending. So Michael too has had to make some key choices as he readies for his part in the entire process.

The Groom –

As the Becca and Michael finish readying themselves for the upcoming ceremony, there apparently was still some time to squeeze in some fun at Michael’s expense!

Now that some fun has been shared to lighten up the mood, it’s was time to get serious and move forward with some of the more official activities of the day, starting with the ceremony.  The couple has chosen The Fairmont Park Horticultural Center for the beautiful outdoor setting it offers them for their ceremony. While the grounds offer the simplicity of nature at its best, it also provides a warm and inviting environment to everyone in attendance. It blends the beauty of trees, plants, birds and other outdoor creatures with the more formal proceedings that are going to take place.

The Ceremony –

As you can see from the photos above, Becca and Mike enjoyed a beautiful outdoor ceremony. John Ryan’s keen eye captured such lovely setting as well as the love and support of the family and friends who the couple invited to share their special moments. But now that the ceremony has concluded, it’s time for everyone to join in and and celebrate this union with some appropriate partying!

The Cocktail Hour –

The cocktail hour is the usual pre-amble for everyone in attendance to relax, take it easy, mingle, and grab a few moments to congratulate the newly married couple as they begin their journey together as husband and wife. It’s a chance to absorb all of the activity that has happened up to this point, take a breather, savor it, and to get ready for more serious celebrating when it comes time to move on to the real celebrating at the reception!

Even though it looks like from the last picture that one little attendee was in need of a power nap, it looks like the rest of the family and friends were easing into the swing of the event, and are now prepared to move on to the reception. The reception serves as a culmination of all the preparation, planning, and execution of all the components of the day that have taken place. It allows everyone – friends and family – all of whom are treasured guests that Becca and Michael wanted at their wedding to share in the experience as they move forward in their commitment to each other. It’s a time to hoist a toast, make speeches, joke around in some cases to ease some tension, and to embrace this new couple as they too heave a sigh of relief that their perfect day has to this point gone on without a hitch! It’s time to share love and feelings of joy amongst each other and especially to the couple!

The Reception –

These photographs so eloquently capture this momentous event for Becca and Michael from start to finish.
