The heading of this blog post, “How Many Wedding Photos Will We et? What Philadelphia Couples Should Expect” is a very common question couples naturally ask when beginning wedding plans for their ceremony, reception, and other aspects of the day’s events. However, a couple can readily get the answers to such questions by first selecting a reliable and knowledgeable photography team. J&J Studios of Philadelphia, under the direction of award-winning photographer John Ryan, is one of the leading photography companies servicing the Philadelphia areas. He, along with his team, have served as reliable consultants to countless brides and grooms to provide expert consultation to address questions, concerns, as well as to educate couples in setting realistic expectations that will produce the overall finished photography they wish to obtain and treasure for many years to come.

How Many Wedding Photos Will We Get?

This topic requires a clear understanding between a couple and their photographer. A consultation is the first step between the couple and their photographer in order to discuss various topics that comprise the day’s events. This is the only way to ensure both sides are “on the same page” as they say to avoid any confusion. John Ryan begins his teams engagement with such a planning meeting. In that meeting, he will raise topics about the various aspects of the days events to secure the couples feedback and come about a mutual understanding and approach. Such areas include:  coverage hours, guest count, multiple photographers, events, and  the quality of the photographs that can be taken to achieve a common goal. This approach is necessary as it will help shape John’s approach from a practical as well as artistic standpoint vs. simply promising a large amount of picture capture.

Here are some examples of John’s work that represent some of the types of photographs he captured for several weddings. Each represents a different approach based on the conversations he engaged in with the couple.

The two following photographs by John Ryan are examples of part of his approach for this particular wedding. The first is an artistic approach of a collage of special memories of the bride. It is comprised of various pieces of special memories as well as some pieces of her upcoming wedding. The second photograph is a fun casual capture of bridesmaids sharing a moment prior to the ceremony.

Variety of Photographs – creating a style and story

The photographs below are examples of more formal poses that are part of the story telling aspects of that John has created as part of the building a variety of photographic options based on the consultation he had with the bride and groom. The photographs of the entire bridal party show a comparison of a standard group photograph, with the second providing a different pose approach that combines formal and fun, also showcasing and incorporating the multiple colors that are part of the outdoor setting, flowers, and outfits worn by the participants.

The next set of pictures are examples of where John and team work to take more candid photographs of the ceremony. By having more than one photographer working, John and team provides the ability of the team to capture a greater variety of photographs of the attendees and activity happening rather than just one singular viewpoint by one photographer. It then will give the couple the ability to review each individual shot to determine what suits their needs most.

Capturing stylized photographs

We finish with some singular shots that show excellent examples of John’s talents. The first is a lovely shot using natural lighting with some additional highlights to capture this evening photograph of the couples bridal table. Notice the effect the camera produces with the sparkles of the candle’s glow. It takes a talented photographer to have the keen eye and sensitivity as John Ryan has to “see” the potential of such a setting and commit it to film. The photograph of the wedding cake is an example of judging just the right distance from the object to capture the colors, details, and intricacies of the cake.

The other photographs show action shots of the invited guests dancing. This takes strategizing as there are many people present, and much action occurring. By incorporating a number of photographers, John can direct them to specific locations, having already indicated the type of reactions they should try to capture in addition to his concentration on activities as well.

The examples provide insight into the work of John Ryan and J&J Studios of Philadelphia and why he is a sought after, award-winning photographer in Philadelphia.
