Longwood Gardens Engagement Photos | Kaitlyn + Jon

Kaitlyn Fierro and Jon Trotta met getting their gains on at the gym. After a fresh set of curls, Jon had the confidence to go over and talk to Kaitlyn. The two have been inseparable since. Jon was drawn to Kaitlyn’s scrumptious biceps while Kaitlyn was drawn to Jon’s sense of humor and indomitable spirit. I was kidding about the biceps…well, only half kidding. We joined them at Longwood Gardens for their engagement session because they explained they wanted engagement photos “with lots of flowers.” I’d say you probably couldn’t have picked a better location on the east coast if flowers were your goal.
Longwood Gardens Engagement Photos
We wanted to capture their quirky personality with natural, editorial posing so we didn’t spend much time on overly dramatic or glamourous poses. However, the couple proved to be excellent at “dipping” so we definitely overused that pose during this shoot.
As your Philadelphia engagement photographer, I want to make sure you are comfortable and relaxed throughout the session. I’ll provide little cues to make my clients laugh, and then just capture the reactions.
Kaitlyn loves weeping willow trees, so on the way over to the Longwood Gardens lake, we stopped at this beautiful weeping willow tree for some pictures.
We saw some stately arches and I asked the couple if they’d ever seen Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze. Apparently, they definitely have.
The sun was setting so I thought it was an excellent opportunity to use some hard light from the left to highlight the couple with the beautiful golden hour sunset sweeping across them.
We love our goofy clients and love to highlight Jon and Kaitlyn’s common love for the gym. After all, couples that lift together stick together.
We love incorporating the Longwood Gardens greenery and flowers into this couple’s portraits.
As the sun set, we stood the couple by a waterfall for a sweet timelapse photo.
Here are some more of my favorites from their Longwood Gardens engagement session.

From the Bride:
We met at our CrossFit gym.
I love that Jon is patient and grounded. He is always the calm to my storm.
Jon’s original proposal plan was canceled due to COVID-19. He was waiting for the perfect opportunity and decided to pop the question on the 4th of July with a gorgeous sunset backdrop.
We decided to have our engagement photos taken at Longwood Gardens because that is where Jon was going to propose. I have a strong love for anything “flowers and green”. It was the most beautiful setting!
Right now the motto of our wedding planning experience has been “its meant to be”. We had the venue, food, flowers, photographer, and band booked within the first week! Everything has just been falling into place…knock on wood!
Out photographer, John, was great to work with! We are not the most comfortable couple in front of a camera and knew it wouldn’t feel natural for us. John did a great job getting some awesome shots and making us feel confident during the shoot.
In my adult life I have become a cat lover! I have super loud sneezes and hiccups. My fiancé says I can’t whistle on key.
