LONGWOOD GARDENS WATERFALL PROPOSAL

LONGWOOD GARDENS WATERFALL PROPOSAL: JENNIFER & NATHANIEL

Longwood Gardens Waterfall Proposal

Just as the initial excitement of planning a wedding settles into the reality of budgets, timelines, and compromises, so does the proposal’s excitement. It’s that time in the relationship when you become acutely aware of all the traditions surrounding it and all the expectations to uphold them. After all, who doesn’t love a good marriage proposal story? But if you’re like most people these days, you don’t just want a good story; you want a photo album that proves it happened.

Jennifer and Nathaniel’s wedding proposal was one of our most memorable shoots this year. We worked closely with them to plan the perfect proposal, which included a custom-designed backdrop and a photographer who knew precisely how to capture their expressions during the moment.

Our team from J&J Studios was able to work with the couple before the proposal, which allowed us to get to know them better and find ways to bring out their unique personalities. Our crew saw them in action when we did an engagement shoot at Longwood Gardens’ waterfall together.

MEET THE BRIDE AND GROOM-TO-BE: JENNIFER & NATHANIEL
Although it was a clear, warm day in October, Jennifer & Nathaniel were shivering—partly because they were just excited to be at Longwood Gardens and partly because they had just ascended the stairs to the top of the waterfall. They’d chosen this place to celebrate their love because they’d been here on a date before, and Jennifer had told him this was her favorite place in the gardens. In the meantime, they’d met each other and fallen in love, and now they were returning on another sunny fall day to celebrate their impending marriage.

In keeping with tradition, Nathaniel got down on one knee and proposed—and Jennifer said yes! She was overjoyed and started crying tears of joy as Nathaniel put a ring on her finger. To document this special moment forever, we asked them to pause for a minute so we could use two cameras: one for a long exposure that would capture the movement of the water, and one for a medium exposure that would capture the couple.

We then asked them to kiss while we took another shot without moving either camera. Now they’re engaged in three ways—they’re engaged in life (they’re getting married), engaged in photography (the three photos), and engaged in love (the kiss).

LONGWOOD GARDENS WATERFALL PROPOSAL VENUE
Longwood Gardens is the perfect place to set a romantic stage for your marriage proposal. The gardens are filled with beautiful scenery, and the cascading waterfall from the conservatory to the terrace area is an ideal backdrop for photos of your special moment.

The waterfall will add more depth to your photos and make them more dramatic than typical engagement photo shoots on a sidewalk. You can even have the water spray you as you take pictures, which makes for a fun memory of your special occasion. The whole area surrounding the waterfall—the terrace and conservatory—is something you can use to add variety to your pictures.

If you want colorful backdrops, there are plenty of other plants and flowers in the conservatory that can help you achieve that. If you want the pictures to be more serene, there’s nothing wrong with taking pictures in front of the waterfalls themselves.

IMPORTANCE OF A WEDDING PROPOSAL PHOTOSHOOT
Wedding proposals are a big deal. They’re one of the most crucial moments in a couple’s relationship, and it’s definitely not an easy task to come up with the perfect way to pop the question.

- A proposal photoshoot can be a great way to add some excitement, romance, and fun to your engagement. Here are some benefits you may want to consider:
- It’s memorable. Your engagement photos will be something you’ll keep forever, so why not make them special? You can choose locations that hold special memories for both of you, or get creative with props and costumes like we did in our engagement shoot!
- It helps capture your personalities. Engagement shoots are usually more relaxed than wedding photography sessions, so this is the perfect time to show off your personalities in front of the camera!
- It can be an ideal way for you both to get comfortable with being in front of the camera before your wedding day arrives!
