intimate shot of chris and megan

Once Upon A Time

Megan Tomlinson and Chris Saylor‘s story began one year at a New Year’s Eve party when they met at a mutual friend’s place. They didn’t know it then, but it was fate. It was just the start of something magical – but something that would have to wait for a few more years to begin. As the years came and go, they stumbled upon each other on Instagram and decided to reconnect. Ultimately, Megan decided to take a chance and go on a pizza date. She bought a train ticket to visit Temple University one muggy August afternoon to meet with Chris. It was like they picked up right where they left off. And from there, the rest is history. No matter how many years passed them by, it was like they were destined to be together after all.

The Proposal

One afternoon, Chris took Megan out to all of their favorite spots in Media, Philadelphia. They enjoyed dinner and shared a few drinks… it was an intimate night together, just the two of them. Chris had decided long before this day that his future was wherever Megan was. She the one for him. So, this would be the night he would ask her to marry him. And that’s when he made the move. He professed his love to her and asked to share the rest of his life with her by his side. They knew they were meant to be together and to keep having these spontaneous adventures together.

A Wedding in East Greenville, Philadelphia

It was a wonderful wedding day for these two out on Megan’s brother’s property. The land made the perfect venue for their big day. The ceremony and reception were both held outside. With tents and tables, everything was prepared and ready for their big day. ‘

They envisioned a boho princess/chic theme for their wedding, and every piece of decoration had a reason behind it. From the picture frames’ colors to the graphics on the menus, they really wanted personal touches on everything there. That’s one of the best parts about being a Philadelphia wedding photographer – taking the time to witness and capture every tiny detail that goes into a wedding. All of the special gifts from loved ones, crafty ideas, and knick-knacks handed down from family members.

When Two Became One

We asked them what their favorite part about their wedding day was:

“It was the best day of our lives, hands down. Seeing one another for the first time as I walked down the aisle takes the cake. We had so much we wanted to tell one another from the happenings of the morning, and were so excited that the sun was shining, all of our loved ones were in one spot, and we were finally saying I do!”

We’re not crying, you’re crying! They are too sweet. We also asked them what advice they would give to other couples planning their weddings:

“Be patient with one another and understanding. It’s easier said than done, but Chris’s patience and kindness made even stressful moments worth it all. Remember what the big day is for, the two of you.”

Megan’s answer was spot on. When it comes down to it, a wedding is between you and your future spouse. Nothing else in the world should matter. Don’t let stress get in your way. And instead, focus on having the best day ever. It’s a new milestone in your life as newlyweds. It’s the beginning of your forever with the person you love.

The Big Day

Now let’s talk about some of my own favorite takeaways from this wedding. First and foremost – every person there was so helpful and nice; I felt like a part of the family right away. I thoroughly enjoyed documenting the wedding party get prepped and ready for the day. You can tell just how much Megan and Chris’s family loves them. Everyone had contagious laughs that made me feel so welcomes.

Chris and his groomsman lifted their drinks and toasted to new beginnings and for a day to remember. Megan and her bridesmaids shared a fun-filled morning getting ready together, something they won’t ever forget and will cherish!

Before the ceremony began, I loved how the couple had an illustration of them where guests could sign their names – sort of like a more modern option for a guest book! It’s definitely unique and personalized.

It’s A Great Day To Get Married

The weather was perfect and the sun was shining bright. There was not a dry eye among anyone there when Megan walked down the aisle. The flower petals lined on the sides of aisle, where Chris was waiting under a beautfiul archway that had beautiful floral arrangments on it.

Another favorite part of mine was the toasts and first dances. These sentimental parts of any wedding always strike a chord in my heart. It’s that moment where family and friends bring up memories and share their wishes and blessings with you.

Eat, Drink, & Be Married!

As the night went on, the sun disappeared, and the lights came on to cue the dancing. Megan rocked out her denim ‘Mrs. Saylor‘ jacket with some dance moves! Meanwhile, Chris headed out in the yard with the boys to enjoy their cigars.

I managed to capture some beautiful shots of the newlyweds by some magnificent trees lit up with colorful lights. When we were done, it was time to cut the cake and enjoy the treats that were available.

Megan and Chris’s wedding cake was to die for. One of my personal favorites, the simplicity of an elegant naked cake, meshed perfectly with the wedding’s outdoorsy theme. Meyer’s Farm and Bakery of Quakertown did a great job of making this for the sweet couple.
