Mary understood the importance of headshots for her professional life when she came to J&J Studios. She was ready for a business-casual look that would be appropriate for various events and also for her LinkedIn page. Mary’s personality shone through with a white and black button-down skirt. Mary’s personality shows through in photos with a relaxed smile and expressive eyes that make you feel like she’s looking right at you. Mary came to our studio and explained what she wanted—for us to take her photo and make her look confident, poised, and happy. She said, “I want it to look like I’m taking my job seriously but still enjoying myself.” We told her we’d do everything we could to make that happen. 

We started by putting together a lookbook of sample shots. Next, we showed her how she could use these images on her website and social media profiles, as well as on business cards, brochures, etc. This helped Mary see the full impact of the investment that she made.

During the session, Mary put herself immediately at ease in front of the camera. She was prepared with an outfit that coordinated with her surroundings and she moved easily in our studio. She was excited about the resulting images, which we were happy to be able to deliver on our promise of a contemporary look and feel. HOW TO SELECT AN IDEAL PHOTOGRAPHER FOR HEADSHOTS?

When you’re looking for the best photographer for your headshot, there are a few things to keep in mind:

• -Go with someone whose portfolio shows that they are most passionate about people’s faces and expressions. If you look through their website and find that they tend to focus on objects instead of people, that should be a red flag. If a photographer is more interested in what things in front of them look like than how the people themselves look, it’s probably not a good fit.
• Go with someone who has experience with getting flattering shots of people. The best photographers can take an ordinary person and make them look exceptional. Look for shots where the person looks happy, vibrant, or powerful. Those are all ideal indications that the photographer can make people feel amazing about themselves.
• Go with someone who takes pride in their work. If you see their name on more than one occasion, they’re likely doing well enough that they don’t have time to stress over one shoot or even respond to clients’ requests immediately. This person may be worth your time!
