Gone are the days where all weddings are cookie-cutter experiences, each one the same as the last. The trend today has become an experience so unique to each couple that it makes one feel like they were living in a foreign, faraway land.

When people gather to share their stories, leave their past behind them, and mark a new chapter in their lives with that very special person, what are they getting themselves into? We know that personally that for Abigail and Scott it came as quite a surprise to them both. To have not known ahead of time just how much everything would change overnight. Here are some photos to give you an insight into their special day.

THE VENUE: ONE NORTH BROAD

Deep within Philadelphia’s historic Fairmount district sits the historic landmark, One North Broad. Abigail and Scott’s wedding was a dream come true. A magical event on a scale unlike any other. It was a spectacular affair taking place at the world-renowned Masonic Temple in Philadelphia.

With its magnificent rooms which radiate grandeur and beauty, sweeping grand staircases, and most importantly to the couple – the historic significance of the Temple as one of the most historic structures ever built in America. Featuring classic elements such as marble pillars and elaborate architecture. Guests were welcomed into a grand ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows that filled the room with natural light.

MEET THE COUPLE: ABIGAIL & SCOTT

Abigail and Scott contacted us initially to do their wedding photography; we had a great time chatting with them and getting to know them, and they were excited to be having their photos were taken (a fantastic attitude that we always love working with!) and we loved their location choice: One North Broad.

Abigail and Scott were such a joy to work with, and we loved getting the chance to do some wedding photography for them. They were both absolutely lovely—fun, easy-going, and completely on board with our ideas, which made the day that much easier for all of us!

GETTING THE PARTY STARTED AT THE NOTARY HOTEL

To kick off the fun we had hotel rooms booked at The Notary Hotel so everyone could get ready and feel comfortable. This is a great time for a few portraits before the wedding festivities begin. We did some photos of the girls getting ready and prepping, then some running around and getting silly before we went out for the ceremony.

The building had some gorgeous colors, their flowers were amazing, and their bridal party was all smiling. We got some great shots of Abigail with her mom and sister getting ready. Then, we took pictures of the entire bridal party where they were in pajamas after hair/make-up was done. Lastly, the bride put the dress on with her mom in one room before doing a first look in the other room with the bridesmaids.

Getting a moment to photograph a Bride and Groom’s First Look before the ceremony was a real treat. A fantastic experience for both the bride and groom as well as their families to truly capture a private moment without distraction.

BRIDAL PARTY FORMALS AT CITY HALL

Abigail and Scott chose City Hall in Philadelphia for their pre-wedding pictures, and we captured their photos on a gray and gloomy afternoon. We took standard poses of everyone smiling and looking at the camera and then some with them laughing. We also took individual shots with the bride and each bridesmaid and the groom and each groomsman.

Abigail and Scott chose City Hall in Philadelphia, our favorite locations for formal photographs because it includes so much architecture and style coming together to create a stunning backdrop. It also includes easy access to breathtaking views of the city skyline.

WEDDING CEREMONY AT ONE NORTH BROAD

With a rustic, yet whimsical touch, all of the design elements brought a story to life. As wedding photographers, capturing a wedding day is always quite a task because there are so many little details, from the time you arrive at the venue to when you leave. There’s no other place in Philadelphia we know where you can walk around and become completely immersed in all things weddings.

When we arrived at ONE North Broad, it was already buzzing with Abigail and Scott’s family and friends who were busy preparing for Abigail’s grand entrance that would happen just moments before she walked down the aisle. Abigail was gorgeous in her white lace gown as she and her father walked down the aisle on their wedding day.

Scott couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Scott stood at the altar, waiting for his beautiful bride with a smile on his face and a blush on his cheeks. When the officiant spoke the words “Speak now or forever hold your peace,” he knew that what she was going to say next would change everything. Abigail and Scott were radiant as they professed their love for each other, exchanged vows, and were pronounced husband and wife.

COCKTAIL HOUR AT ONE NORTH BROAD

There’s nothing like a good cocktail hour. The exchange of banter and stories between loved ones and friends, and the general atmosphere to be social and enjoy yourself. The cocktail hour was a great way to get some photos doing more natural shots. And of course, it was a perfect opportunity for everyone to mingle with everyone else.

After all, they had waited so long for the day where they could finally see our loved ones again, have a glass of champagne with them, and share in their happiness. We always love the opportunity to photograph the cocktail hour for another perspective on the day, and to make sure I get some great photos of my couples having fun with their guests.

RECEPTION AT ONE NORTH BROAD

Abigail and Scott, along with their friends and family, were all smiles as they took in the atmosphere of their beautiful reception at ONE North Broad. They decided to go with an elegant, classy affair that took place at the ballroom. The reception was by far one of the most amazing receptions we have ever been to.

The couple was married in beautiful attire, surrounded by their family and friends, in an elegant setting with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. Every detail, from the food to the candles on the tables, was prepared perfectly. The couple made sure everyone had a great time during dinner with their special bride and groom dance, father-daughter dance, and mother-daughter dance. All of this happened within the breathtaking ONE North Broad building in Philadelphia.

Soft lights. Gleaming glassware. Champagne flutes raised in toasting fashion. Blush and white details. Abigail and Scott’s reception at ONE North Broad was the beginning of the rest of their lives together, complete with fun-loving family and friends that surely bonded them even closer as a couple. The entire night was great, because of how much love filled the air. Everyone danced nonstop. One of the highlights of the night was the “First Dance” between Abigail and Scott! It was fantastic.

DECORATIONS AND DETAILS AT ONE NORTH BROAD

Abigail and Scott’s Wedding guests were awestruck by the reception decor. Abigail and Scott knew how to throw a party, and their wedding was the perfect representation of the couple. It was classy, elegant, natural, understated, vintage, burgundy. The couple wanted their reception to give guests a feel for their personalities and lifestyle. In doing so, they created a romantic and intimate ambiance. You get the idea! We’ll take a look at the details to help you create your romantic tablescape.

Blooming with long-stemmed burgundy, red and deep green roses, the reception tables were dressed in white fabric and accented with gold chargers. To give the space a vintage feel, they used a gold and white pattern. The centerpieces included vases decorated in neutral colors, which helped balance the gold patterned runners on the tables.

VENDORS AT ONE NORTH BROAD

Once Abigail and Scott had sent out the save-the-dates invitations for their wedding, they sat down to choose wedding vendors. It was thrilling to choose the different parts of the wedding that would make their day special. They batted around ideas, carefully crafting everything from what they’d serve at the reception to other intricate details.

Every vendor was amazing. We were unable to thank everyone individually, but it was an absolute pleasure to work with each one of them. We cannot imagine how the day could have been better. The vendors so accommodating, so pleasant, so businesslike, yet friendly and comfortable. We were so appreciative of how they worked so well together as a team.
