This photo series was capture in Oreland, PA, at a company called Integrated Solutions. Oreland, Pennsylvania William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, reserved Springfield Township as one of his family’s original manors in the 1680s. In 1686, Thomas Fitzwater discovered vast lime deposits on his land in Oreland. He erected a kiln to process it, which by 1693 had attracted the attention of William Penn. Penn ordered a highway built from the port of the Delaware River to the kiln. Named Limekiln Pike, and still in existence today, it was one of the first roads in the area. These lime deposits and the ore deposits also found in the area gave Oreland its name. Mining and farming would dominate Oreland’s economy until the 20th century, when Oreland transformed into a residential suburb of Philadelphia, as it remains today.

There is more freedom for creativity and humor that can be applied for those events as opposed to those representing a person’s association with a company. There should be the ability to present each subject in a positive way. In these cases that is achieved by taking multiple shots, having the subjects in a variety of poses, using different lighting, or alternate clothing. For poses, the change of someone just crossing their arms can change the mood of the photograph in a casual way without giving taking away the professional demeanor the subjects are representing. Also, while most of the photographs below have the subjects smiling, for some individuals a broad smile may not be the best take for them. In some cases, no smile, or a slight smile without teeth exposed may work better for the individual’s photograph. These are the considerations the photographer must make to achieve the best representation they are looking to capture.
