At J&J Studios, we do all types of photography genres. One of my favorite parts about my job is meeting individuals and learning about their stories.

Recently, we had the opportunity with Ricardo, a paragon of male modeling. We had a blast shooting and really upped the ante for Ricardo’s portfolio. You’ll be sure to impress any Philadelphia modeling agency with a stunning portfolio.

Refresh and update your Philadelphia modeling portfolio. The competition is exceptionally fierce out there. If you plan to attend auditions, meet with scouts or agencies, or share photos online, you need to make a great first impression. You want to stand out from the rest, and to do so, you must have crisp, clear imagery. In other words, one single snapshot won’t do you justice – you need a portfolio. Win your next success with professional, high-quality images.

Ricardo’s Male Model Photography Session

I am pumped to share this fashionable Philadelphia male model’s photographs. Ricardo was an excellent sport and had this shoot in the bag. For him, this was just a walk in the park. During this shoot, we warmed up with a few casual shots by a mid-height concrete wall. You can see greenery mixed in, making the perfect backdrop. Simplicity goes a long way in terms of capturing a sleek portrait. With this classic setting, it lets the subject – Ricardo – stand out.

Types of Shots

Scouts often look for a headshot and a full-length shot. They want to get a feel for who you are and your personality. As your Philadelphia model photographer, I am experienced in the various types of shots models need. I will briefly go over a few types that we would capture during your modeling session.

One of the most important types of shots is a beauty shot – or a clean headshot. This shows the natural state of a model without heavy makeup or accessories. This portrays a model in their natural state and emphasizes their facial features. Models should relax their faces, typically without a smile. As you can see, Ricardo nailed it.

Furthermore, commercial shots are always a great addition to your portfolio. By capturing in-action shots, editorial models will showcase their ability to express themselves through an image. Have fun with a prop, convey an emotion (laugh/cry/look upset), or anything that conveys your creativity. These are what clients look for – passionate, believable, and expressive!

A powerful closing shot can seal the session. This can be an image you choose to place at the end of your portfolio. Have a strong closing photograph so it will linger in the back of potential client’s minds. One last big impression is equally important as the first. Be one they won’t soon forget.

Moving onto editorial portraits, these are a little more creative than beauty shots. This is a touch of glam to make a portrait more imaginative while shining a light on a person’s character.
