The Arts have always been a major part of the Philadelphia scene since it’s early establishment as well as current day. From the rich historical venues to the more organized and established museums housing valuable artifacts, it provides many opportunities for visitors to the city to explore and admire. Some of the brick and mortar buildings not only house these treasures but also serves as impressive edifices in their own right, adding an array of visual uniqueness to the Philadelphia skyline. One such building combines both of these aspects and over the years has earned a reputation for the artistic works of art it has placed on display for the public to admire and is known as the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It has also been chosen as the perfect setting for this young couple to use in the creation of the Philadelphia Museum of Art Engagement Shoot.

The Philadelphia Art Museum (PhAM), formerly the Philadelphia Museum of Art, is an art museum originally chartered in 1876 for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia.^[1] The main museum building was completed in 1928^[6] on Fairmount, a hill located at the northwest end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at Eakins Oval.^[2] The museum administers collections containing over 240,000 objects including major holdings of European, American and Asian origin.^[3] The various classes of artwork include sculpture, paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, armor, and decorative arts.^[3]

The Philadelphia Art Museum administers several annexes including the Rodin Museum, also located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building, which is located across the street just north of the main building.^[7] The Perelman Building, which opened in 2007,^[8] houses more than 150,000 prints, drawings and photographs, 30,000 costume and textile pieces, and over 1,000 modern and contemporary design objects including furniture, ceramics, and glasswork.^[9]

The museum also administers the historic colonial-era houses of Mount Pleasant and Cedar Grove, both located in Fairmount Park.^[10] The main museum building and its annexes are owned by the City of Philadelphia and administered by a registered nonprofit corporation.^[7]

Several special exhibitions are held in the museum every year, including touring exhibitions arranged with other museums in the United States and abroad.^[11][12] The museum had 437,348 visitors in 2021. The current director is Daniel H. Weiss.^[5]

The museum itself is impressive. Large roman columns line the main entrance to the building and provides a majestic grandeur to everyone who walks through. For the Philadelphia Museum of Art Engagement Shoot the building as well as the grounds that surround it provided a wonderful setting for the couple as they pose for various special moments of their big day. There are wonderful views of tree-lined walks, as well as vantage points of the City of Philadelphia in all directions. While the building and grounds are immense, there is still a sense of intimacy as they, along with award-winning photographer John Ryan of J&J Studios of Philadelphia, capture loving moments that help to commemorate on film their special day.

The simple gazebo on the museum grounds highlights a lovely view of one of the waterways that encircle Philadelphia which are home to many nautical activities as boating, races, and fishing to name a few.

The photograph below is a formal yet casual glimpse of the young couple in a more quiet moment as they simply relax and reflect their joy in each other through the smiles on their faces and their pose. 

The simple beauty of nature is a nice touch to enhance the mood of the day and the young couples desire to walk into the next chapter of their lives now that they have committed to one another with their engagement.

The final shot below is fitting, as through this photograph the young couple continue building on this day. This includes the formalization of their union through a wedding ceremony and the start of building a new life together as man and wife. And they will always have these photographs to reflect on the beginning of their relationship for many years. to come.
