When Gianna and AJ married, they opted for a classic, elegant wedding at the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia. We at J&J Studios captured the blissful moments with their mix of traditional portraits and whitewashed cityscapes. This is one of our favorite weddings this year, and we had a lot of fun shooting it! The day was perfect in every way, as you can see—it’s that time of year when everything just seems to come together, and fall just happens to be a beautiful backdrop for an elegant affair.

The Ritz Carlton Philadelphia has been hosting ideal events since the 1980s, so they really know how to make it look good. The wedding itself was classy and sophisticated but still felt personal. A lot of attention was paid to the little details that make each celebration unique.

MEET THE BRIDE AND GROOM: GIANNA & AJ

Gianna and AJ were a fun couple to photograph during their wedding day. They were energetic, full of smiles, and happy to be surrounded by the people they love. Their personalities are very similar, and it was evident that they both had an equally good time celebrating with everyone! We loved the way they laughed together in each picture, just like we love the way they both dressed for the occasion.

It was very easy to get these two to laugh as you can tell from their pictures! They also have a great sense of humor and know how to have a good time, but at the same time, they know what is crucial and what’s not.

We are so glad that we got to spend this special day with them and wish them all the best for their future together!

GETTING THE PARTY STARTED AT RITZ CARLTON

The morning was an elegant whirlwind of hair and makeup, laughter, tears, and love. It all started with the bride, who was a vision in a stunning lace gown. We captured her as she got dressed and then listened to her final words of advice to her bridesmaids. Next came the bridesmaids, who were all decked out in gorgeous light blue dresses, each with a unique style that fit their personalities.

Before too long, it was time for pictures of the groom and groomsmen, who had no problem striking silly poses while the guys got ready. They all looked handsome in their tuxes and white button-up shirts, and silk ties—the epitome of classy men’s fashion.
After spending some time with each group, we all made our way outside to take pictures as they were heading to the ceremony site at Saint Thomas of Villanova Church.

THE WEDDING CEREMONY AT SAINT THOMAS OF VILLANOVA CHURCH

The wedding ceremony was held at Saint Thomas of Villanova Church. The church was packed to the brim with family and friends who came to witness the couple exchange vows. The church was decorated with white roses, lilies, and other flowers that matched the bride’s bouquet.

The altar was adorned, and a priest read a prayer for the couple before they exchanged their vows. Afterward, we proceeded to the reception venue which was located at the Ritz-Carlton in Midtown Philadelphia.

RITZ CARLTON WEDDING RECEPTION

Wedding receptions are always a blast! The food is fantastic, the drinks are plentiful, and you get to see all of your friends and family celebrating. Gianna and AJ were no exception! After their ceremony at The Saint Thomas of Villanova Church, we were whisked away by boat to the Ritz-Carlton. Everyone celebrated until the wee hours of the morning. We had a wonderful time with their family and friends.

The staff here was great too – they did a wonderful job with everything! With the newly married couple leaving to begin their honeymoon and the rest of the guests moving on, there was still one last thing to do at Gianna & AJ’s reception: party. The DJ cued up a low-key song, and the dance floor began to fill, as everyone started enjoying themselves. It was a good way to relax after all the excitement of the day, as friends and family celebrated. We closed out the night with a few more lively songs, then it was time to go home.
