Surprise Proposal & Engagement Party Photography

Surprises are often one of the most delightful parts of life. Add to a happy surprise the romance and joy of a proposal of marriage, and you’ve got a recipe for an unforgettable night. Surprise proposals and engagement parties take a lot of nerve, but that boldness can pay off in unbelievably beautiful ways. J & J Studios was fortunate to capture Johnny and Andrea’s surprise proposal and engagement party photography. Let’s take a look at this scene at the Brooklyn Heights Promenade in Brooklyn, NYC.
Nighttime Surprise Proposal under the Brooklyn Bridge
We think the view of the Brooklyn Bridge, sparkling with lights, in the background of this proposal is enchanting. Johnny added even more light to the night by spreading candles around the area where he planned to propose to Andrea. If you look closely, you can also see that there are red and white rose petals strewn about the ground between the groupings of candles.
The Language of Flowers
According to the language of flowers, combining red and white roses (or, as seen here, rose petals) is a symbol of unity. Marriage is one of the most important unions in which humans participate. So, having the symbolism of both white and red rose petals lining the way to where Johnny proposed to Andrea is very fitting.
Surprise Engagement Party
If you’re confident in your significant other’s answer to your proposal, you can plan an engagement party. Engagement parties help you and your new fiance celebrate the fact that they’ve said yes to that important question. Also, engagement parties after the proposal are a wonderful way to include your families in your joy, while still keeping the proposal itself more intimate and private.
Cinematic Cake
We love this adorable movie-themed cake! Our favorite thing about it is the information written on the marker atop it. We also love the pictures of Andrea and Johnny in the film strips on the cake.
