Recommendations from friends, family, and coworkers can do wonders when a couple is planning their wedding. Getting a recommendation from someone you trust can be a great way to vet possible venues and vendors for your wedding. That’s definitely true for Lydia and Jeremiah, who chose the Buck Hotel for their wedding venue. Their Buck Hotel wedding was a roaring 1920s themed party that was so beautiful to see! 

Meet the Couple: Lydia and Jeremiah

Lydia and Jeremiah first met after matching on a dating app in 2017. Soon after, they spent hours talking on the phone to one another, and went on their first date within two weeks after they began talking. Now, look at how far they’ve come!

The Proposal

Jeremiah went all-out with his romantic proposal to Lydia! He planned for them to dine at the Moshulu on Valentine’s Day. After dinner, the pair walked to the top of the building to look at the skyline at Penn’s Landing. There, Jeremiah told Lydia they would take photos as part of the Valentine’s Day dinner package. Lydia was pointing at one of the buildings, and when she turned, Jeremiah was on one knee with a ring in his hand! Obviously, she said yes – and everyone is so happy she did!

The Buck Hotel Wedding Attire and Accessories

Lydia wore an ivory robe as she got ready. On the back, it read “Bride.” She got her bridesmaids matching purple robes, which read “Bridesmaid.” They’re beautiful, but they also looked so soft to the touch!

Everything about Lydia’s wedding day attire screamed “vintage opulence!” Just look at her rings – aren’t they striking, yet elegant? That’s a tough balance to strike, but here it is, struck perfectly!

We also loved Lydia’s gorgeous wedding bouquet. It reminded us of the glamour of the 1920s and its flappers! Made from flowers and feathers and decorated with sparkling pins and brooches, it fit her Great Gatsby theme perfectly.

Lydia’s wedding gown (as well as the venue) was the main inspiration for her and Jeremiah’s wedding theme. Just look at that scalloped lace, the embellishments, and the sheath silhouette of her dress! Lydia’s wedding dress and drop earrings definitely looked like something a flapper would wear on her wedding day. But, the deep-cut neckline and strappy beaded back were delightfully modern 2020s details.

To top it all off (pun intended!) Lydia wore a birdcage veil accented by a feather headpiece. The headpiece was shaped like a tiny feather fan, which was a fun and fabulous detail!

Meanwhile, Jeremiah looked happy and handsome in his gray tux, complete with purple vest, pocket square, and bow tie. The gray tux is very 1920s, as well, but it’s also modern! 

As you can see from his uniform, one of Jeremiah’s groomsmen is a policeman. So, we got a fun and humorous photo with him and the groom by a parking sign! 

Lydia’s bridesmaids wore lilac dresses, mostly with mid-length tulip hem skirts. Their outfits were all adorned with sparkling silver belts, to add some glamour to their attire. They also wore jewelry and hairpieces that matched their belts, to add to their allure. They all looked so beautiful!

The Buck Hotel Wedding Planning Experience

When J & J Studios asked Jeremiah and Lydia about their wedding planning experience, they told us, “It was very stressful.” Because the pair got engaged in February 2020, the pandemic was just beginning to unfold. The March shutdown was imminent then. 

Once March and the shutdown came, like everyone else, Lydia and Jeremiah weren’t sure what would happen. They didn’t know how long things would be shut down, if they’d need to postpone, or for how long. They were worried about family and friends getting sick, as well. So, they decided to place everything for their wedding on hold. They kept things on hold until restrictions were largely lifted in June 2021. “That’s when we put ourselves in full gear and went full speed in our wedding planning,” Lydia told J & J Studios. 

However, Jeremiah and Lydia have advice for other couples planning weddings. They told J & J Studios, “Take it one day at a time and go with the flow. Even if things don’t go as planned, it will still be the best day of your lives and nothing else will matter.” That’s awesome advice – thanks, Lydia and Jeremiah!

The Wedding Venue: the Buck Hotel

Jeremiah and Lydia received a personal recommendation about the Buck Hotel. Jeremiah’s coworker had celebrated his own wedding reception at the venue the year before. He recommended the Buck Hotel based on its amazing service and fair pricing.

So, Lydia and Jeremiah called to schedule a tour at the Buck Hotel. During the tour, they fell completely in love with the venue. With the Buck Hotel’s opulent ballroom and crystal chandeliers, we’re not surprised they fell in love with it! Jeremiah and Lydia left their deposit for their wedding reception the same day.

Located in Feasterville, PA, the Buck Hotel has been family owned for over twenty years. The gorgeous ballroom can play host to over 300 guests! Plus, the Buck Hotel offers five other meeting rooms for smaller gatherings. So, if you’re having a big wedding or a more intimate event, the Bucks Hotel has a place for you!

The Buck Hotel Wedding Ceremony

Lydia told J & J Studios that her favorite part of her wedding day was “seeing my husband cry as I walked down the aisle and when he cried during our vows.” We love that Jeremiah loves Lydia so much that it overflows! 

After exchanging their wedding vows, Jeremiah and Lydia shared a tender but passionate kiss. Lydia held Jeremiah’s face in her hands like a treasure. Jeremiah leaned into his wife as he held her close to him.

You might notice that Jeremiah’s boutonierre matches Lydia’s bouquet perfectly. That type of detail is one we love to see, because it’s a physical representation of their complementarity. Plus, how cool is that feather? 

The Buck Hotel Wedding Reception

The use of purple throughout Lydia and Jeremiah’s wedding definitely added to its sense of luxury. After all, purple has long been a color associated with riches and royalty. That’s because for many centuries, purple dye was expensive and difficult to make. Though it’s easy to dye things purple now, the color has retained this meaning even today.

Even Jeremiah and Lydia’s cake was dressed to the nines! We love the Art Deco- and flapper-inspired design of it. Jeremiah and Lydia even included their beautiful purple shade in the cake decor!

We loved the place cards at Lydia and Jeremiah’s wedding, too. They were decorated with black feathers attached with a sparkly applique. They were just as fabulous as the cake!

Jeremiah and Lydia also provided a cigar bar for their guests. It’s a classic tradition, one that people usually participate in when they’re celebrating something. Sometimes they’re doing it to celebrate the birth of a baby, sometimes a holiday, but sometimes to celebrate a wedding, too. 

After entering their wedding reception, Lydia and Jeremiah stood in a half circle with their wedding party. They all watched videos from loved ones who couldn’t come to their wedding.

The dance party at the reception looked like tons of fun! Guests were really moving to the music. Jeremiah and Lydia even provided glow sticks for their guests. They helped light up the dance floor!

After they fed each other cake sweetly, Lydia smeared a bit of cake on Jeremiah’s forehead. It was a funny moment that we’re sure will keep them laughing for years!

Jeremiah and Lydia chose to participate in the garter toss. That’s when the groom goes under the bride’s dress and retrieves the garter from her leg with his teeth. Then, he tosses it to the single men in the room!

After that, Lydia did the bouquet toss. That’s when all the single women clamor to catch the bride’s bouquet. The bride tosses her bouquet over her shoulder to the group. Tradition states that the woman who catches the bouquet will be the next one to get married. So, we guess that the bride’s luck is catching (pun intended again)!

Jeremiah and Lydia exited under the glow of sparklers held by their guests. Sparkler exits provide a perfect exit for a perfect party. They’re like miniature fireworks!
