The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Philadelphia

The J&J Studios, LLC team had the opportunity to sponsor the Philadelphia Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride this year and boy did we have a blast! Started in 2012, the inaugural ride brought together about 2,500 riders in 64 cities around the globe. This ride is dedicated to raising awareness and funding for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research on behalf of their charity partner, the Movember Foundation. The race started at Quaker City Motor Sport in Manayunk, a trendy neighborhood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

We caught up with John Godsey, Dealer Principal who would wave the starting flags for our 160 riders who raised a total of $25998 for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research. It was a brisk September morning, a perfect day for a ride in the most dapper apparel. Men donned tuxedos, suits and event motorcycle cufflinks.
We had the opportunity before the start of the ride to interview several men, many of whom were riding with personal connections to people with prostate cancer or men’s mental health problems. For many of the distinguished gentlemen there, there were deep personal connections to the ride and it made it exponentially more meaningful.

At 9:00 o’clock precisely, kickstands up and flags dropped to the thunderous ROAR of 160 motorcycles reeving to life. It was truly a sound to be heard. The ground shook. The sound was deafening. Passersby stopped in their tracks. Traffic stopped. The riders departed.
The ride itself was over 40 miles and ended at Washington Crossing Historic Park where a few of the top donors were congratulated and we took a large group picture.
