The Mutter Museum Wedding of Lisa and Cory
There are a large number of exciting and interesting wedding venues in the Philadelphia area that offer a young couple a unique and rewarding place to celebrate their special event. In this case, the Mutter Museum falls under the category of both! The Mutter Museum, part of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, doesn’t have the origin story of your typical Philadelphia wedding venue. It was established in the late 1850s with a collection of biological specimens, models, and medical equipment. Originally, it was intended for biomedical research. It’s now a museum dedicated to medical history housed in a gorgeous building in Center City. The architecture inside and out makes it an appealing wedding venue. A Mutter Museum wedding combines historic Philadelphia elegance with time among the museum’s notoriously quirky exhibits. One minute you’re in an elaborate woodwork library or wide marble staircase. The next you’re sipping a cocktail face to face with the Hyrtl Skull Collection. It’s definitely an experience wedding guests won’t forget. While Lisa and Cory have selected a more unique venue to hold their special wedding day, there are still all the components of a traditional affair that they have incorporated. And the couple were very wise to select an award-winning photographer to capture all the special moments of this special day. In this case, they have chosen John Ryan of J&J Studios of Philadelphia. John is very well-known and in demand not only in the Philadelphia but Pennsylvania as a whole, as well as distances near and far. But more about John a bit later. For now let’s view the memorable photography John created that made The Mutter Museum Wedding of Lisa and Cory an extraordinary event!
We start with the bride readying herself for her big day. While the Bride and Groom share the focus of such a wonderful event, admittedly the Bride is usually the star of the event! Her dazzling wedding gown, the wonderfully applied make-up, and the lovely flowers are just some of the accessories that enhance the figure she presents for the day.
As I indicated early, while the Bride is the featured “star” of the wedding event, the Groom also has his role in the events of the day as well. He too must prepare, taking care of the practical things like donning his tuxedo, adding his accessories, and in this case, getting his favorite buddy – his dog – ready to participate as well!
The old saying goes, “a man’s best friend is his dog”. Well, that can’t be argued as you view the photos of this cute little dog. It’s more than evident that this dog holds a special place in Cory’s heart, and the pictures captured by John Ryan show just how special the relationship is between these two.
As the day begins to take shape there is a portion that is reserved for more formal photo opportunities, and The Mutter Museum Wedding of Lisa and Cory is no exception. While the intent is to capture a good deal of casual and loving moments, there are considerations to memorialize more formal posing of the Bridal Party, and select family and friends that will allow the couple to remember the joy and pomp that occurred during the entire day. As you’ll see from the below photos, there are a variety of backdrops that photographer John Ryan incorporated to help the couple showcase the beauty of the day as well as of the participants.
It is so meaningful that the Lisa and Cory chose to include their special furry friends to become a part of their wedding day. The photograph below shows the great fit they are as part of the big event, and that it was so important for the couple to ensure that they were integrated so intricately in all of the planning for the day.
The ceremony the couple planned at the Mutter Museum Venue was held outdoors in the comfortable grotto area on the property. It provided a casual but pleasing way that reflects how the couple wished to celebrate their nuptials with their friends and family in attendance. And as you can see it all started with the Groom and his special buddy leading the wedding entourage into the space. It when then followed by some touching moments between the Bride and Groom, the Bride’s family, and the final closure of the ceremony after the Bride and Groom were officially proclaimed man and wife.
Cory’s best buddy seems to be looking lovingly at the couple at the end of the ceremony when the couple share a kiss cementing their relationship and the creation of a new family for the three of them.
As with any well-planned wedding, it was time to move to on to celebrate the big event with friends and family who were fortunate enough to be invited to the festivities. This is when the more anxious and slightly nerve-wracking aspects of planning such a big event begin to melt away, and it’s now time to have fun and relax! The photographs below capture the ornate setting of the venue, and how it is filled with fun and excitement as the invited guests let their hair down and get serious about toasting this loving couple.

The cutting of the wedding cake is always a sweet moment between the Bride and Groom. It’s a symbol of them jointly doing something together as a new committed couple, and celebrating their love and caring for each other by feeding each other.
Throwing the floral bouget by the Bride is not always included in some wedding receptions, but here the Bride has chosen to toss her flowers out to a lucky person who captures it!
Music plays such an important part in any celebration, and having a DJ is a wonderful way to offer a variety of musical genres to help entertain and engage all ages and backgrounds of the attendees so no one is left out of the fun.
In the flurry of activity the couple steals away to a private moment to share their love and joy as a newly married couple.
All good things must come to and end, and so it’s true for Lisa and Cory. A final gaze at each other, and an exit out of the venue as they make their way forward towards their new life as man and wife.
