The sound of wedding bells is one of the most beautiful sounds in the world. Those familiar with the joyful occasion would be able to say that a wedding will improve your mood tenfold. What’s so heartwarming about weddings, though, is their effect not only on the newlyweds and their families but also on friends and other relatives. Wedding ceremonies can easily initiate a surge of emotions in people who have gone through similar experiences.

Despite all these good vibes, planning a wedding has also become more complex than what was once envisioned to be. What better way to honor such a union of two creative, good-hearted, and adventurous souls? J&J Studios was truly blessed to have been a part of this event, and we hope that our best intentions and efforts came through in the images we captured. When it finally came time to shoot their wedding, all of our planning really paid off. We were lucky enough to work with a couple that was not only in love but also full of energy—just the kind of people you want to photograph at an event like this! In the lead-up to the big day, we felt a sense of both anticipation and excitement, but mostly just grateful that we were part of such a meaningful day.

As a photography company, we intend to capture moments like these. WILLIAM PENN INN WEDDING: VENUE

MEET THE BRIDE AND GROOM: ALICIA & MATT

We’re excited to share the wedding of Alicia and Matt. They are one of the most fun couples we’ve had the privilege of working with. They put so much thought into every element of their day, and it really shows in everything from their decor to the moments we captured.

We had an incredible time working with Alicia & Matt, and setting up such a beautiful backdrop for their first look made the moment even more special. From start to finish, Alicia & Matt were fun, warm, enthusiastic, and easy to work with. They offered us a unique glimpse of who they are during their day, and working with them was one of the most memorable experiences of our wedding photography career. I know many photographers who wouldn’t be able to say the same. You guys are the best!

GETTING THE PARTY STARTED

The day was here! Our photography team arrived at Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Lansdale, where everyone getting ready. We took some amazing shots of them all together! The bridesmaids were wearing matching robes, and the bride was wearing a sparkly crown—it was quite a photo op.

Meanwhile, the groom and his best men were getting ready in the room next door. It was crazy to see how many people they brought with them—there must’ve been at least six guys in there! They were all having a good time, though we’re not sure if that’s because of the whiskey or because they were so excited to finally be married. We were excited to have our cameras in hand because we knew that this wedding was going to be a blast! The sun was shining through the windows, and everyone looked immaculate. We were ready to capture all of these special moments for Alicia and Matt.

WILLIAM PENN INN WEDDING CEREMONY

The William Penn Inn was transformed into a charming ceremony area. There were lovely signs indicating the location of each element. It was almost impossible not to smile – just seeing Alicia approach Matt and seeing their family and friends fill every space following behind them. The ceremony was wonderfully planned, and everything points to one question: do you take this awesome wedding with you as a part of your life?

Their vows were so beautiful, heartfelt, and perfect for the two.
Alicia looked stunning in her beautiful white dress, with her makeup and hair done perfectly, just like Matt’s tuxedo. The bridesmaids wore beautiful pink dresses, which matched the flowers perfectly. There were tears of joy, laughter, cheers, and cheers when they kissed for the first time as husband and wife! We had a great time taking photos at this wonderful event!

As they begin their new life as husband and wife, we can’t help but think back on how Matt proposed. As we look back on the proposal, we remember Alicia’s reaction. There was nothing more romantic that happened that day than a destiny in motion. In fact, their love had been a long time coming. The two shared undeniable chemistry from the start and had been friends for years. It took an unexpected invitation to her favorite winery in Pennsylvania for Matt to propose.

COCKTAIL HOUR AT WILLIAM PENN INN

The cocktail hour was a favorite of many guests, and it directly followed the ceremony. The bride and groom welcomed their guests and mingled with them before the party began in earnest. Apart from providing some light refreshments for attendees, a cocktail hour also helps everyone get to know each other better, especially since only a few people may have met before the wedding. During this time, guests can enjoy their drinks while they roam the venue at their leisure, looking at the décor, talking to friends and family of the couple, and even taking photos.

WILLIAM PENN INN WEDDING RECEPTION

For the pieced-together bride, the reception at William Penn Inn was a chance to see old friends and make new friends in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. For the newlyweds, it provided a dance floor and the chance to enjoy good company and great food. And for the guests, it was a chance to dine with friends and meet new ones while sharing meals.

Grand entrance. Check. First dance. Check. Dine and dance. Check. Alicia and Matt did it all! The night was filled with fun, laughter, smiles, and a couple of “yasss” from the family members as they shared their joyous union with the rest of us. Alicia looked gorgeous in her dress, which made her glow like the star she is! The two of them looked stunning together as they shared their first dance.

The couple’s wedding cake featured three tiers with each tier featuring a different flavor: white chocolate raspberry, red velvet, and lemon raspberry. After the cake cutting, the bride and groom took their seats at the head table while their guests grabbed delicacies from the nearby buffet tables before heading back to the dance floor.

The food was delicious, and the dancing was fun (especially Matt’s dad making moves on the dance floor!). But what really stood out was how filled with joy the night was. It just made me smile, seeing everyone having such a great time!

WINDING UP AT WILLIAM PENN INN

As the night wore down, the music switched from dance to soft instrumental. Their friends walked under a canopy of sparklers held by shimmering shapes of guests. Alicia and Matt Walker drew closer together. As the last strains of their song faded away and Alicia stepped in her new husband’s arms. The families took their places on either end of an aisle that led to the path to their forever. In a moment of silence, the assembled throng embraced before scattering into the darkness outside. The only light was a single glittering star in the sky above them.

As the couple walked away into the canopy, everyone thought about what a magical day it had been. It was as if it were straight out of a fairy tale. The scene at the wedding and reception was so memorable that it will forever be etched in the minds of those who were there to celebrate with Alicia and Matt.

Alicia and Matt took their time selecting vendors for their big day. They made it work out without a hitch. Not only did they involve their family, friends, and all of their close vendors, but they made sure to include all of the small things that make the wedding special. Personal touches like the hand-written invites and programs, custom stationery, complimentary catering, destination weddings all within driving distance, easy access to photographers and florists, and even a reasonable cost for a DJ.
