YEADON HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHY: JESSE
Yeadon Headshot Photography

Jesse’s career is uniquely dependent on how others perceive him. Before he has a chance to wow them with his prowess, he needs to win them over with his image. That’s why Jesse considered proper headshots an essential investment for his success with J&J Studios.
For someone trying to grow into a career in any field, it’s crucial to have a professional-looking portrait of yourself that can be used for networking, applying for jobs, and showing off on social media. However, having your picture taken is an awesome experience, regardless of whether you’re being photographed by a professional or a friend.

YEADON HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION WITH JESSE
When Jesse came to our studio for headshots, we started with a series of pictures that would let us get to know each other and get comfortable in front of the camera. We started by taking a few pictures of just his face and then moved on from there. We asked him to be still and smile, he fidgeted and made silly faces, we took some pictures with a background and some without, and we took pictures of those—we had a great time! By the end of our session, we were so comfortable with each other that it was hard to decide which great picture to choose.

UNDERSTANDING HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHY
Headshot photography is a great way to capture your personality. When choosing headshots, you need to consider the vibe you want to give off and how much you care about quality. If you are looking for a professional photo to put on your resume, business cards, and more, then you should probably look for a photographer who specializes in studio and portrait photography. On the other hand, if you are looking for something casual, then you probably want to choose a photographer that specializes in candid photos.

Headshots are used for many things; however, they are most commonly used in online dating profiles, LinkedIn profiles, modeling portfolios, music publicity campaigns, and audition applications.

FACTORS THAT YOU SHOULD CONSIDER FOR A GREAT HEADSHOT
Headshots are not one-size-fits-all. The best headshots for you have a look that reflects your personality. The key is to understand your goals and pick the right photographer for you.
There are a lot of factors to consider when you’re getting your headshot taken, but here are some things to look out for if you want the result to be flattering.

- What angle is the camera being held at? Are they making sure that there’s nothing too prominent in the background behind you?
- Are you looking directly at the camera, or is your gaze slightly off-center? If so, which way is your gaze angled?
- Is your smile genuine or are you forcing it? Can people tell that it’s fake just by looking at the photo? If so, does that mean that you’re looking tense around the face, or does it look like simple nerves?
- How is the lighting on your face and hair (if any)? Is it harsh and unflattering or soft and natural-looking?
