Philadelphia is a marvelous city and offers a plethora of unique areas that can afford wonderful backdrops to capture memorable events such as engagement. Such is the case for the Love Park Engagement Photos in Philadelphia | Stephen & Makayla’s City Session. Award-winning photographer, John Ryan of J&J Studios of Philadelphia has capture some beautiful photographs of this young couple as they move forward in their relationship by committing themselves to one another.

Once such place that was chosen as a backdrop for this engagement session is Philadelphia’s Love Park. Philadelphia’s iconic John F. Kennedy Plaza — better known as LOVE Park — is most famously the home of Robert Indiana’s iconic (and highly Instagrammable!) LOVE statue, which has resided in the space almost continuously since 1976. But that essential piece of Philly public art is just one of many things to explore and enjoy at this Center City West space, which also offers green areas, a fountain, walking paths, and seatings, The Portal and the LOVE Park Visitor Center, which opened in May 2021.The park is conveniently located near City Hall, offering views of the architectural treasure and all the activities that take place in its shadow. What better symbol to represent an engagement session that this iconic monument. It say it all so simply – LOVE – which is the essence of what is involved in a relationship between two individuals who care for each other and wish to grow together. The large red letters loom in the light helps to focus on the emotions the young couple must be feeling as the moment is captured on film.

Another iconic place nearby the park is Philadelphia’s City Hall. Philadelphia City Hall is the seat of the municipal government of the City of Philadelphia in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Built in the ornate Second Empire style, City Hall houses the chambers of the Philadelphia City Council and the offices of the Mayor of Philadelphia.^[6][7]

This building is also a courthouse, serving as the seat of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania. It houses the Civil Trial and Orphans’ Court Divisions of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County.^[8][9][10] It also houses the Philadelphia facilities for the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania (which also holds session and accepts filings in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh).^[11]

Built using brick, white marble and limestone, Philadelphia City Hall is the world’s largest free-standing masonry building and was the world’s tallest habitable building upon its completion in 1894. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1976; in 2006, it was also named a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers.^[12] 

The building was designed by Scottish-born architect John McArthur Jr. (1823–1890), and Thomas Ustick Walter (1804–1887).^[13] in the French Second Empire style of architecture, and was constructed from 1871 to 1901 at a cost of $24 million dollars (late 19th century value of American money). The City Hall’s tower was completed by 1894,^[1] although the interior was not finished until 1901.

Historical presence aside, this marvelous building provides a lovely backdrop for the couple to to pose in front of to capture a moment together. Their love isn’t overshadowed by the immense building but instead provides a warmth to the evening photograph.
